The 280 year old 'Kennet and Avon Canal' is 87 miles long and
links the River Kennet in Newbury to the River Avon at Bath.
This section of the canal, just outside of Newbury in Berkshire,
is typical of the canal today - teeming with narrowboats, barges
and cruisers. Many of these can be hired from the numerous
marinas found along the way.
Today the canal is a heritage tourism destination and an
important area for wildlife conservation with a variety of birds
such as herons and kingfishers.stination |

Before / After
The original photo was
spoiled by the intrusion of a telegraph pole, the long cable that ran
from it and a crisp packet floating in the water close to the narrowboat. They had to be removed
.... and what you're left
with is a stylish "photo-painting". |
